From South Africa to New York: A Designer’s Journey

JH Republic was born from a passion for design that began on the vibrant shores of South Africa. June Hawkins, the founder of JH Republic, discovered her love for design while working as a visual merchandiser. Surrounded by vivid colors, rich textures, and a culture that celebrated creativity, she quickly realized that her true passion lay in transforming spaces.

Her journey took her from Cape Town to Dubai, where she refined her skills in interior design, working on diverse residential and commercial projects. Eventually, she found her creative home in New York City’s West Village, where JH Republic was established.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, June’s approach to design is eclectic, imaginative, and client-focused. Her work is about more than placing furniture—it’s about crafting spaces that reflect her clients' personalities, needs, and stories.
